Castel Frères :
creator of strong brands

For over 30 years, Castel Frères has been working to create strong brands for each vineyard and each segment. Today, some have already become truly iconic…

Our creations

French favourite Bordeaux for Baron de Lestac, French favourite Loire wine for Plessis-Duval, French favourite wine brand for Roche Mazet… Such success in France is also recognised internationally, for example for Aimé Roquesante brand, an acclaimed Côtes de Provence wine in the USA. With 7800 medals won over the last 10 years, our traditional or avant-garde brands are always supported by the quality of their wines. A quality unanimously recognised that allows Castel Frères to reinvent each offer, each category, each segment…

Our sustainable commitments

Adhering to the principles of the United Nations Global Compact since 2019, the company, as a commercial company of CASTEL Group, has thus publicly committed to aligning its long-term strategy on 10 fundamental universal principles, on the strong themes of human rights, international labor standards, anti-corruption, and naturally the environment.

Castel Frères is thus committed to the environment in a sustainable way, and in particular on these three key points :

REDUCING GREENHOUSE GASES

By adhering to the Global Compact, Castel is committed to the 2030 agenda which sets a target of - 40 % reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2030 compared to 1990, to tend towards carbon neutrality by 2050. ISO 50001 certification was enacted on two production facilities instead of mandatory energy audits.

REDUCING THE IMPACT OF OUR PACKAGING

For more than 10 years, the use of lightweight bottles on our main brands, such as Roche Mazet and Baron de Lestac, has helped to reduce the tonnage of glass. 900 tonnes of glass are thus saved each year.

VALORING OUR WASTE

The waste generated by winegrowing activities constitutes potential "secondary" raw materials that can be valorized in agriculture (wood, green waste...) or in industry (glassine, cardboard, cork stoppers, pallets, etc.). The proportion of waste valorized on production facilities is over 89%.

Contributing to the Preservation of Biodiversity

Within our Châteaux and Domaines, the prevention and development of biodiversity are encouraged by the integration of a living viticultural ecosystem as a key factor in the management of the vineyard.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATIONS.

logo terra vitis

Terra Vitis is a sustainable viticulture certification created in 1998 by French winegrowers and specifically dedicated to wine. The approach integrates all stages from the vineyard to the cellar. Its three main concerns and areas of action are man and his health, the protection of the environment and the economic sustainability of the farm. Since 2020, all Terra Vitis vineyards can also obtain the High Environmental Value label.

logo agriculture biologique

Public French and European certification that encourages respect for the environment and promotes the well-being of humans and animals. It excludes the use of GMOs and synthetic chemicals, and uses natural-origin treatments (sulfur, copper, citrus extracts, etc.).

logo Haute valeur environnementale

The High Environmental Value certification meets the clearly expressed need in the work of the Grenelle de l'environnement (2007) to recognize farms engaged in environmentally friendly practices. This commitment includes, for example, the identification and protection of the most important areas for biodiversity on the farm, the optimization and management of fertilization, but also the management of water resources.

Our Commitments for a Responsible World

logo drinkaware

Castel Frères is committed to the prevention of the risks associated with alcohol consumption, supports responsible consumption, and recommends that you :

⋅ Limit your alcohol consumption to 2 drinks per day maximum.

⋅ Do not consume alcohol in risky situations (pregnancy, breastfeeding, minors, driving, operating machinery, taking certain medications, and participating in risky sports).

⋅ Do not consume alcohol every day.

logo engagement RSE

Our company is committed to a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach.

In 2023, our Blanquefort site obtained the "exemplary" level of certification. In the medium term, our goal is for all of our production sites to be certified.

Green is our future

Far from being a passing trend, organic and reasoned agriculture are an interdisciplinary priority at Castel Frères, regardless of the distribution circuit. Internally and externally, a comprehensive approach has been implemented. Supported by three pillars: Terra Vitis, organic and HVE label (High Environmental Value). It covers the diversity of French wine-producing regions. With 20 years of experience in family vineyards, we have all the expertise needed to help you create a "green" range that is in high demand with new consumers.

Terra Vitis : developed by winegrowers to winegrowers

To regulate and apply such engagement, Castel Frères supports the only reference exclusively created for viticulture: Terra Vitis. This certification is validated by an independent organisation; Terra Vitis defending a sustainable vineyard culture based on reasoned agriculture principles. This approach aims at the protection of the environment, human beings and their health, winegrowing economic viability, and the pleasure of wine from the vines to the cellar.
